    • What is the Caltex Fuel Your School community campaign?

      Caltex Fuel Your School is a community campaign in which Caltex will contribute RM2 for every fuel purchase of any amount with the JOURNEY™ Card at participating Caltex stations to help fund eligible classroom projects from August 1st to September 20th 2017. Up to RM225,000 will be allocated for Perak.

      This innovative campaign offers members of the Perak communities a convenient way to provide direct support to their local public schools. Caltex and its retail network provide the financial support with MyKasih Foundation providing its funding expertise.

    • What is MyKasih Foundation?

      MyKasih Foundation is a charity organization that aims to help less fortunate Malaysians regardless of race, religion and descent. Capitalizing on MyKad technology, integrated programs include food aid, education, financial literacy, health screening and skills training programs. MyKasih helps review and approve project submissions, purchases materials once the project is fully funded and ensures that materials are delivered to the classroom. MyKasih oversees all expenditure and disbursements to ensure all funds are used strictly for the intended purpose. For more information, visit www.mykasih.com.my.

    • How will Caltex Fuel Your School work?

      • From August 1st to September 20th 2017, Caltex will contribute RM2 for every fuel purchase of any amount with the JOURNEY™ Card at participating Caltex stations up to a maximum donation amount of RM 225,000 to help fund eligible classroom projects.

      • Donations earned through the Caltex Fuel Your School community campaign will be distributed to help fund materials for eligible classroom projects from August 1st through September 20th 2017, or until the maximum cap of RM 225,000 in Perak have been reached.

    • Why Perak?

      Following the success of our Caltex Fuel Your School in Penang, Johor, Kedah, Terengganu, Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang and Kelantan from 2012 to 2016, Caltex has extended the reach of our community campaign to other communities in which we have the strongest networks.

    • Do I need proof of purchase in order for projects to be funded?

      No. The donation of RM2 for every fuel purchase with the JOURNEY Card at participating stations is automatically applied as a result of your purchase

    • Can I help fund projects independently?

      • Yes, consumers may also independently fund classroom projects MyKasih Foundation by making a separate, individual donation. There is no obligation or requirement to do so.

      • You may issue a cheque made payable for “MYKASIH FOUNDATION”. To make it count towards the Caltex Fuel Your School Fund, kindly inform your intentions to the MyKasih Foundation team by emailing to CaltexFYS@mykasih.com with the subject “Donation for 2017 Caltex Fuel Your School”. You will then be guided on the simple steps of donation.

    • What if I make a purchase without the JOURNEY Card, will it still count towards funding the classroom projects?

      • No, only fuel purchases with the JOURNEY Card count towards funding the Classroom Projects.

      • If you have yet owned a JOURNEY Card, you may sign-up instantly for free at any Caltex station in Perak, and immediately help towards funding the classroom projects.

    • Do purchases other than fuel (convenience store items, lubricants) count toward funding the projects?

      No, only fuel purchases with the JOURNEY Card at participating Caltex stations count toward funding the approved Eligible Classroom Projects.

    • How can I participate and for how long?

      The community campaign will begin on 12:00am of August 1st and end on 11:59pm of September 20th 2017. Consumers can support the community campaign by making any amount of fuel purchase with the JOURNEY Card at their participating neighborhood Caltex stations in Perak throughout the community campaign period. Increased visits could earn more funds for your local public school.

    • Are all the stations in Perak participating in this promotion? How can I find a list of participating stations?

      Yes. Visit www.forms.caltex.com/fuelyourschool/my to find your participating neighborhood Caltex station under the Supporting Stations tab.

    • Will the RM2 donation earned by my purchase go to a specific school/teacher/class?

      Eligible Classroom Project Requests will be funded based on their successful shortlist by Caltex and MyKasih Foundation as well as their popularity as voted by followers of the Caltex Fuel Your School Facebook page. See Caltex Fuel Your School Official Rules for further details.

    • What if I do not want to participate in the Caltex Fuel Your School campaign? Will my purchase be applied regardless?

      Eligible Classroom Projects will be funded based on their successful shortlist by Caltex and MyKasih Foundation. See Caltex Fuel Your School.

    • My children are home schooled. Can I apply to take advantage of this campaign?

      No, this campaign only benefits eligible primary and secondary public schools in Perak.

    • Will the RM2 donation earned by my purchase be contributed to private schools?

      No, only primary and secondary public schools in Perak are eligible to receive material funding.

    • My neighbor/friend is a teacher. How can he/she take advantage of this community campaign?

  • Educators / Teachers FAQs

    • What does the Caltex Fuel Your School campaign mean for educators?

      The Caltex Fuel Your School is a community campaign which funds materials for classroom projects up to RM5,000 each to educators of an eligible public school in Perak. Subject to the terms and conditions of the Caltex Fuel Your School, material funding will be intended for projects emphasizing Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

    • Who is eligible to submit Caltex Fuel Your School projects?

      • Fulltime educators who spend at least 75 percent of time working directly with students – not necessarily confined to a single class – at eligible public primary and secondary schools in Perak (classroom teachers, subject teachers, librarians, etc).

      • Administrators, part-time educators, assistants or student teachers and volunteers are not eligible to submit proposals. Educators must submit a classroom project request via www.forms.caltex.com/FuelYourSchool/my . Only one classroom project request per educator will be eligible for funding.

    • I’m a subject teacher and teach a number of classes. How do I participate?

      Profile your students in your description of your class in your proposal submission. You may include the total number of your students, as each student should be able to participate in your proposed classroom project.

    • How do I post a project?

      Eligible educators may submit their project proposal via www.forms.caltex.com/fuelyourschool/my as of July 31, 2017.

    • When should I submit my project?

      The Project Submission Period will begin at 12:00:01 a.m. on August 1, 2017 and is scheduled to end at 11:59:59 p.m. on September 20, 2017. However, Chevron Malaysia Limited reserves the right to extend or end Project Submission Periods without prior notice.

      It is best to submit your proposal early to counter any technical difficulties you may experience. In the event this should occur, email CaltexFYS@chevron.com. To avoid disappointment, remember to carefully read the Official Rules and Frequently Asked Questions.

    • How many projects can I submit?

      Only one Classroom Project Request per person per email address will be allowed to receive material funding of up to RM5,000 during the Caltex Fuel Your School community campaign duration. Multiple classroom project requests received from any one person or email address after the first Classroom Project Request is received from that person or email address will be void. If you made a mistake or would like to update a submitted proposal, send an email prior to the deadline to CaltexFYS@chevron.com

    • How many projects can my school submit?

      As many as your school can! However, only one Class Project Request per Educator/Teacher will be allowed to receive material funding of up to RM5,000 during the Caltex Fuel Your School community campaign duration. So, get more teachers on board!

    • What types of projects will receive Caltex Fuel Your School funding?

      While projects related to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics that request up to RM5,000 in materials will gain priority, other subjects will be reviewed at the committee’s discretion. Field trips are not eligible for funding through this community campaign.

    • Can I encourage other teachers to participate?

      Yes! We hope you'll refer as many eligible teachers as possible. A quick and easy way to spread the word is to send the link www.forms.caltex.com/FuelYourSchool/my to your friends and to encourage them to "Like" the Caltex Malaysia Facebook page

    • What are the entry and judging criteria for the Caltex Fuel Your School?

      • Submissions should detail how the materials being requested support the learning of STEM subjects. Submissions should be clearly written (Note: Please do not submit in ALL CAPS!) to showcase how the requested project materials will be used in a creative and innovative manner in the classroom.

      • Material funding will be awarded based on the decision of a panel of judges that will consider the many attributes that support STEM, including how the classroom project request promotes a hands-on learning experience, how the classroom project request supports the existing classroom curriculum and course objectives, and if the project materials for the classroom project request are sustainable past a one-time use.

    • What are the conditions for applying?

      Read the Official Rules. Remember:

      • The written content of all Classroom Project Requests submitted become the sole property of Chevron Malaysia Limited.
      • By submitting your project for material funding consideration, you are agreeing to share your contact information with Chevron for use in communications about Caltex Fuel Your School.
      • By submitting your project and/or accepting any material funding, you agree to the Official Rules governing this Caltex Fuel Your School community campaign and to allow Chevron Malaysia Limited to use your name and likeness and the name of your school in any Chevron promotional materials.
      • Chevron Malaysia Limited reserves the right to disqualify any participant that does not comply with the Official Rules of Caltex Fuel Your School. Parties who approve, endorse or consent to the Eligible Project Submitter’s proposal submission are also considered participants.
      • Chevron's decisions are final and binding on all matters related to Caltex Fuel Your School.

    • How will the judging process work?

      All Classroom Project Requests submitted for Caltex Fuel Your School will go through a panel of judges. This will consist of qualified Chevron employees and other qualified individuals including MyKasih Foundation employees who will score the submissions based on the criteria below. Judges shall award points based on the following criteria (i.e. each of these areas should demonstrate how they support STEM Education):

      • Up to 30 points are available for submissions that demonstrate the creative and innovative use of requested project materials
      • Up to 30 points are available for submissions that promote a hands-on learning experience in the classroom
      • Up to 20 points are available for submissions that support existing classroom curriculum and course objectives
      • Up to 20 points are available for submissions that demonstrate that the project materials can be sustainable past a one-time use

    • How will participants (winners and non-winners) be notified?

      All participants will be notified by email between September 23 – September 30, 2017 unless otherwise notified.

    • Who do I contact with questions regarding Caltex Fuel Your School?

    • What can I do to improve my project's chances of being shortlisted?

      Projects will be vetted by Chevron and MyKasih Foundation partners, with submissions shortlisted based on creativity and nature of requested materials that support STEM education.

      All requested resources must be used by students or directly provide a student experience. Projects cannot foster discrimination, and must be appropriate to your school. No requests for labor, capital improvements or vehicle purchases will be entertained.

      Ensure projects have a catchy title, and essays have a stinger first line. Keep project costs less than RM5,000. Speak from the heart when writing your essay and always keep in mind whether your students will be able to write a genuine thank you letter. Check your submission for spelling and grammar prior to submission.

    • When will I be notified if I am shortlisted?

      Shortlisted Classroom Projects submitters will be notified by email between September 23 – September 30, 2017. Submitters must respond within three (3) days to remain eligible for Caltex Fuel Your School funding.

    • I keep getting messages from CaltexFYS@chevron.com AND CaltexFYS@mykasih.com. Is that right?

      Yes! Make sure you have both email addresses on your safe list to ensure you gain all the relevant updates, and are able to communicate with us in a timely manner.

    • How will I know if my project is fully funded?

      Project submitters that have been rewarded full funding will be notified via email. Project submitters must respond to the email within three (3) days, with confirmation that the school address and items list are current; commit to submission of a THANKS! package within three (3) days of receipt of reward items.

    • What if my project requirements have changed?

      Caltex Fuel Your School only fulfills projects as submitted to ensure transparency and fairness. Caltex Fuel Your School will not permit exchanges and/or return of items received. To avoid disappointment, always check your requirements and provide accurate information on the item required and preferred vendor(s).

      Exception: Items received may vary from items requested in the project. If the item you request is no longer available, Caltex Fuel Your School will contact you to select a replacement item that still aligns with your project purpose.

    • What if I don't need reward funding anymore or I would like to give up the fund awarded to me?

      If projects have been selected, the Educator must contact Caltex Fuel Your School committee immediately via email (CaltexFYS@mykasih.com). The fund will then be allocated to the next best Classroom Project.

    • What happens after the items are delivered to my school?

      Project items will be delivered to your school in care of your Principal. You will receive an email explaining how to complete your THANKS! package, with permission slips for parents to grant approval to photograph their children using the materials; a requirement for FIVE digital photos of your items in use by the class; and provide a brief letter on the Caltex Fuel Your School site about the impact of the funded project to your classroom. You will also have to lead your students in writing thank you notes for each donor, which will have to be mailed to Caltex Fuel Your School.

    • What is a "THANKS!" package?

      A THANKS! package is a chance to show appreciation to donors for their contribution towards your classroom. This consists of:

      • Teacher Impact Letter: A personalized message of your appreciation to the donor(s) and a description of how the funded resources have helped your class.
      • Student Thank-You Notes: Creative handwritten/drawn thank-you notes by your students showing their appreciation, to be posted to Caltex Fuel Your School. These thank you notes will be delivered to respective donors.
      • Photos: FIVE hi-resolution digital photographs featuring you and your students using the materials in your class. These photographs will be posted with your project on the Caltex Fuel Your School Facebook page and website.

    • What are the guidelines for student thank-you notes/letters?

      • 1. Mention the specific resources funded.
      • 2. Review letters to ensure they do not contain student last names, school address, personal details or any inappropriate content.
      • 3. Do not send media items such as CDs, DVDs, etc.

    • What pictures should be uploaded in the THANKS! package?

      1. Good photos feature the whole class or small groups of students using the project materials (at least two students per picture, or even students holding a sign saying thank you). Always ensure photos are taken with a camera, and flash for best results.

      2. If school restrictions or difficulty in getting permission from parents are an issue, you can still submit pictures that do not show student faces, or the final results achieved with the funded items.

      3. Due to privacy/safety concerns, do not feature close ups of one student or the last names of your student. Do not submit inappropriate subject matter.

    • I can’t submit my THANKS! package on time. What should I do?

      1. It is your responsibility to gain all appropriate approvals, endorsements and consents from the relevant parties for purposes of participating in Caltex Fuel Your School.

      2. You are also responsible for notifying such parties if your project is rewarded, and for facilitating the coordination of receipt of the rewarded materials.

      3. All parties who approve, endorse or consent to your proposal submission will also be bound to the terms and conditions of the Caltex Fuel Your School community campaign.

    • Can you help me gain my supervisor/principal/Parent & Teacher Association (PIBG) endorsement for my classroom project?

      It is your responsibility to gain all appropriate approvals, endorsements and consents from the relevant parties for purposes of participating in Caltex Fuel Your School. You are also responsible for notifying such parties if your project is rewarded, and for facilitating the coordination of receipt of the rewarded materials. All parties who approve, endorse or consent to your proposal submission will also be bound to the terms and conditions of the Caltex Fuel Your School community campaign.

    • Who owns the classroom project materials?

      • Materials funded through the Caltex Fuel Your School Fund will become the property of the winning classroom to be used for the purpose in which it was purchased.

      • Winning Educators must abide by the policies of the State Department of Education and your school regarding approvals, documentation or tracking of contributed items.

      • However, Chevron will endeavour to provide support where possible in cases where Winning Educators are denied access to materials that were delivered for his/her class.

      • In the event that the Winning Educator is not allowed to receive or use the materials for any reason whatsoever, such materials must be returned to Chevron upon Chevron’s request, and Chevron reserves the right to forward such materials for the benefit of another Eligible Classroom Project in Kelantan or Pahang.

    • Will I or my students get any acknowledgement of participation?

      Yes! All successful project submitters will gain a Caltex Fuel Your School certificate of participation. Only students of winning classroom projects will get certificates of participation to be distributed by their Winning Educator.

    • What happens after I receive the materials and have submitted my THANKS! package?

      1. Let the learning begin! In your classroom project proposal, you would have agreed to commit to certain metrics to gauge your student’s progress with timelines.

      2. Periodic audits will be conducted by the Caltex Fuel Your School team to check on your classroom’s progress, and verify that the materials contributed are being used for the purpose in which they were purchased.

    • When will the award ceremony take place?

      • The award ceremony will take place in the months of August and September 2016 for both Kelantan and Pahang, at a venue to be determined.

      • Further information will be informed to the respective winners via email.

    • How is MyKasih Foundation connected to Caltex Fuel Your School?

      • MyKasih Foundation helps review and approve project submissions, purchases materials once the project is fully funded and ensures that materials are delivered to the classroom.

      Yes, you can submit a classroom project that is ongoing, as long as you are able to explain how the Caltex Fuel Your School project materials can help enhance the project./p>

    • How do I know my contribution will directly fund the project I select?

      1. MyKasih Foundation uses a technologically advanced process that is efficient, secure and transparent.

      2. The computerized system enables MyKasih to provide audit trails and a project spending report for donors to track their contribution.

    • What happens to my contribution if the project is not rewarded full funding?

      1. Caltex Fuel Your School will only purchase items for projects that have been selected after September 20th 2017.

      2. In the event a partial fund is received, the donor will be contacted to decide if they would like to make a general contribution to MyKasih Foundation, or choose an alternative project to fund.
